How to Reconstitute Lyophilised Peptides in the Lab | UK Guide

What reconstitution means

Lyophilised material is a dry cake or powder. In a laboratory, reconstitution means preparing a solution under an approved SOP, with compatibility, traceability and contamination control. This guide gives no quantities or injection instructions.

Aseptic technique

• Use a clean area and follow your laboratory’s PPE and aseptic-work SOP.
• Use sterile, in-date equipment and inspect the vial, closure and label.
• Disinfect the work surface and vial septum as required; minimise exposure.
• Label with identity, lot, date and operator, then record the action.
• Quarantine material if the container, label or appearance is inconsistent.

Diluent kept separately

Where an SOP specifies it, Bacteriostatic Water — 10 ml may be stocked separately as a diluent. Confirm compatibility locally; never assume one diluent suits every material. Keep diluent and peptide inventory separately documented. See the research shop for lab supplies only.

After preparation
