Storage and Stability of Lyophilised Peptides

For laboratory research use only. Not for human consumption. This guide covers storage documentation for lyophilised research material and gives no dosing or medical advice.

Why storage matters

Heat, moisture, light, oxygen and repeated handling can affect a dry material. A stability statement is specific to the product, container, lot and validated conditions; use the supplier record and your laboratory SOP.

Ambient transit

Ambient transit is a shipping condition, not a storage recommendation. Keep the sealed vial in its original protective packaging during delivery. Record arrival date and visible damage, broken seal or unusual exposure, and quarantine discrepancies for review.

On arrival

After receipt, refrigerate the sealed lyophilised material promptly (2–8 °C). For longer-term storage before reconstitution, store it frozen (around −20 °C), unless the product record or your SOP specifies otherwise. Keep it dry, protected from light and clearly labelled with identity, lot and receipt date. Do not repeatedly warm and cool it. Once reconstituted, keep it refrigerated and do not freeze.

Stability records

Track storage location, temperature excursions, opening or preparation events and expiry or retest information. Once a vial is opened or prepared, follow the applicable validated stability record rather than assuming the unopened-vial period still applies.
