Lab Equipment Checklist for Peptide Research

For laboratory research use only. Not for human consumption.

Good storage and handling depend on the right basic kit. Here’s a practical checklist.

Cold storage

  • A lab fridge (2–8 °C) for material on arrival, short-term storage, and material once reconstituted.
  • A lab freezer (around −20 °C) for longer-term storage of lyophilised material before reconstitution, ideally not frost-free.
  • A min/max thermometer or data logger for each unit.

Weighing and measuring

  • An analytical balance, calibrated and on a stable bench.
  • Calibrated pipettes and compatible tips.
  • Volumetric glassware for preparing lab solutions.

Storage accessories

  • Vial racks and freezer boxes.
  • Amber or opaque containers, or the original outer packaging, for light protection.
  • Desiccant packs for moisture control.

Clean working

  • Gloves, lab coat and eye protection.
  • A clean, dedicated work surface.
  • Suitable waste containers for lab disposal.

Labelling and records

  • Freezer-safe labels and a permanent marker.
  • A logbook or spreadsheet with a row per batch: batch or lot number, date received, location, date opened or dissolved, and initials.
